What i think "giving up half the light of the world to save the world" means is that Mat will discover firearms.
<br>The evidence for this all his interest in fireworks and in WH the aluminator Aludra asks him if he can figure out what use she'd have for a bellfounder, which is necessary for primitive firearms.
<br>He will use this to "...save the world" but in doing so will have unleashed advanced weaponry on the world thus making it a darker place. Hence "giving up half the light of the world"

I believe Moiraine is alive and well. Lanfear told stated in Winter Heart thatshe was held captive by the Elfinn against her will and only the DO pulling her out of her body (death) did she get reborn. Moiraine is still alive but in Finnland and some how she'll leave (maybe by the other Alfinn door in Tear) and by there to assist 'Rand in his time of need' (Min's prediction).

Rand will balefire Merin so hard that she will have never drilled the bore it could work but i dont think RJ will do it but i would work in theory balefire on the dark one would work but it seems to be an even worse idea than mine cause without evil, good would have no meaning

I believe that it will be up to Perrin and Egwene to save Moiraine. And also she will probably come back stilled. Cause the Finn through the Rhuidean doorway require a price and hers was her ability to channel in exchange for Lanfear's ability to channel weakened and Lanfear killed. That's why Lan felt Moiraine die.
