Was right that the DO can win since he has an infinite number of turnings to work with. Where he was wrong was failing to recognize that the light also has a chance of defeating the DO. This will be the FINAL Last Battle where the light wins. All other Last battles resulted in a "Draw".

Rand will defeat shaidar harran, who is linked to the dark one in such a way that shai'tan is killed. but fain will kill Rand almost immediaately after. this will all take place inside the bore, and they will have been sealed in by rands order(probably by perrin). The wheel of time will thus continue, as fain will replace shai'tan as the dark one.(maybe moridin could also become the dark one but i believe that he might switch sides back to the light once he sees the dark one can be defeated, because of his big speech that says that he only betrayed them because he saw the darkones victory as inevitable).

Fain will replace or kill the dark one. Either Rand will win against shai tan (something to do with shaidar haran probably) and then shut fain in the bore, or the dark one will win, but fain will kill/battle him for taking Rands life, which fain sees as his.

This time the last battle will cause the wheel of time and the pattern to break. The Dark One will be fused with the Creator. Saidar will be merged with Saidin (creating Sardine :) No more prophecies, ta'veren, and predetermined / unchangeable future.
