Connections To

📁 The Black Cord 👤 Mashadar 📅 1998-09-18 💬 1 reply
From the looks of this board, most people either believe that the black cords are involved in either ressurecting Chosen or somehow linked to their Oaths to the Great Lord and their protection from Saidin. While these sound like good theories to me, I do have one question. If these black cords represent some sort of connection to the Great Lord, be it for ressurecting purposes or a tie to their Oaths, why didn't Aginor have one? Rand was able to see the white cord (from the EotW), but did not see a black cord. Could these black cords have some connection with the True Power and the Great Lord?

I think if you notice, Rand never sees the black cords in the real world. He saw them on Ishamael-in Tel'aran'rhoid and Asmodean-on his way to Rhuidean. He sees the white cord on Aginor that led to the 'pool' of saidin in the real world. I'm sure Aginor had a black cord also like his Forsaken counterparts. I would completely agree that this cord also has to do with the TP and as Rand told Lanfear and Asmodean, "you let him attach himself to you." It has alot of properties, good points Mashadar.
