There is something fishy concerning Owyn's gentling. The red ajah didn't just openly go against three thousand years of law and custom by gentling him where he was just for the heck of it. Moraine hints to Thom in TSR that the whole thing was masterminded by someone. I believe that Elaida thought that Thom had too much influence with Queen Morgase, so she when she found out that Owyn could channel, she sent some of her sister reds to talk him into proclaiming himself as the Dragon Reborn. Elaida thought that this would certainly cause Thom's demise. So, the red ajah found Owyn, and talked to him as they later did to Logain. But, Owyn refused, and, rather than risk the rest of the tower finding out, the reds gentled him on the spot. I believe that some of this information will be included in Moraine's letter along with the names of the sisters who gentled Owyn. This will all come out during Elaida's trial.

1998-08-02 I would tend to agree that Elaida must have had something to do with it. The fact that the crown was on the line during the romance between Thom and Morgase, Elaida found the weak link to get Thom out of there and probably led Morgase to issue a warrant. Good insight.
