Has no one yet noticed that everytime Rand thinks or speaks of Mat the colors swirl in him head? The link is there. The ta'veren are linked to each other. When they are apart for extended times, they try to pull each other together. In time I think you will see Perrin causing the same effect. You can wait and see, but I think when Rand, finally, rejoins his friends, the problem will go away. The ta'veren will solve their mutual problem.
