What is the path of daggers? Not sure of the exact page number, but in the third book (I think) High Lady Suroth is thinking to herself and remembers an old saying that goes something like "the paths to high placed are paved with daggers." Now I don't think that anyone really believes that there are roads literally paved with daggers. I think this is more a reference to the dangers that assail anyone who would put themselves in a high position.
