Given that we know little about how the bonding works and that Rand's being able to channel is an unknown element in this bond, maybe the bond will backfire on Alanna. Since both parties can channel, the bond may make each of them warders for each other. Alternatively, since Rand is the more powerful channeller, his dominance in the bond might win out over Alanna's. We have already seen that women can be bonded. This would explain why Alanna finds it impossible to control Rand. Rand would then be able to break/transfer the bond when it becomes inconveinient for him. The assumption here is that the channeller/warder relationship is not something exclusive to saidar. It would be an ironic plot twist that in trying to bond Rand, Alanna herself becomes bonded.

1998-09-11 This bond is quite intriguing because for once she cannot compel Rand, but it appears that he can compel her. So I think you are right that he has dominance over the bond because of his strength and ability to channel. But can he truly cut the bond himself? Irony and RJ, you gotta love it.
