I've been viewing Rand as a Christ figure throughout the books but after the Prologue describing the "Fisher" I've come to believe that Christ is an incarnation of the Dragon. (Well, in the fictionalized version - I've not lost complete touch with reality :)) The fisher is linked to Christ in a couple of ways. First one of the titles Christ is known by is the "Fisher of Men," second (I know this links to Rands wound as well but...) the only thing that I kept seeing when Moridin was describing that wound in his side was the spear wound the Christ recieved on the cross. So why does this belong in the Last Battle section you ask? What happened after Christ died? Three days later he rose from the dead. What has Elayne said that Nyneave would never be happy until she did? Healed someone three days dead. I've seen someone say that Lan will be the person that she "brings back" but he doesn't fit as well as Rand - simply because he is not a Christ figure whatsoever. The pattern changes but is still similar.

1998-10-08 Good one, I wonder if RJ will go that far with the similarities. Because although they both were savior figures. RJ acknowledges that he wasn't trying to make Rand Christ, and I don't see how he could avoid that if he has someone resurrect Rand three days later. But it definitely, as you pointed out, is a real possibility.
