Twice Dawns the Day

📁 Rand and the Last Battle 👤 Derek 📅 1998-09-07 💬 1 reply
Everyone has heard that bit in the Karaethon Cycle that says, "Twice dawns the day when his blood is shed. Once for mourning, once for birth. Red on black, the Dragon's blood stains the rock of Shayol Ghul." I think that it refers to the Aiel. Their prophecy says that the he shall be of the Blood but not raised by the Blood. The Aiel will be nearly destroyed during the Last Battle and the remnant of a remnent will be the ones who gave up the spear. I believe its in The Great Hunt that Moiraine says that the Dragon Reborn will destroy his people with the leaf. The Aiel that are Gui'shain and refuse to end there service are essentialy following the Tinker's Way of the Leaf.

I agree that part of the symbolism of this prophecy is the destruction of the Aiel, but do you believe that Rand will also die?
