Taim and Demandred are one and the same. Book 6: Demandred meets with Semirhage, Mesaana, and Graendal. Mesaana goes into thought about Barid Bel's reasons for becoming Demandred. He was the most highly acclaimed man second to Lews Therin. His jealousy caused him to turn to the Dark. She mentions his almost smile,"The corners of his mouth twitched, as close to a smile as Mesaana had ever seen from him." Mesaana also describes him as being hawk-nosed and handsome "though not quite the sort to make every woman's heart beat faster." Rand describes his sight of him as hooked-nose and also handsome if he were to judge. He also continually notices that quirking of an almost smile throughout his tenure asthe "M'Hael". Taim also makes several comments if read in the right context can allow the detective, ahem, I mean reader discover Taim's real identity. 1.He stares at Rand when Rand opens the gateway to the farm in the 3rd chapter. He doesn't look too AWED by it. 2.In the same chapter when Rand tells Taim to test them, Taim exclaims,"You haven't tested any of them? Why in the name of ...? You cannot, can you? You can Travel, but you do not know how to test for the talent." 3.Taim also refers to the Aiel as "these so-called Aiel". 1:Almost all of those who passed through Taim's Gateways when Taim went collecting were pretty much amazed by the holes in the air. Rand also remarks that Taim was very quick to pick up whatever he taught him, but that it took him (Rand) a long time to learn what was taught to him. 2:HOW THE THE HELL DOES TAIM KNOW THE TERM "TRAVELING"? Most non-Aes Sedai don't know that terminology. 3:Aiel means Dedicated as most of us know. Dedicated to peace."So-called" Aiel?

1998-06-03 Wow, that does present a good case, some of that I hadn't thought of...but again, isn't RJ giving us to many clues?

1998-06-05 I really have to agree with Karthi Ambati above. All her points make perfect sense, plus one other. At the end of the LoC, Demandred goes to Shayol Ghul(or whatever). Shaitan's instructions to Demandred were to "Let the Lord of Choas Rule," and Demandred says to the Dark One -- "Have I not done well"(or something very close to that). This is right after Dumai's Wells and what better way to do his bidding than to 1)Kill thousands of Aiel, 2)Capture Aes Sedai, 3)Be invoved withy Aes Sedai swearing fealty and 4)Unleashing hundreds of male channelers on the world.

1998-06-09 And most importantly to Owen: I am a Heterosexual, 22 year- old man. Karthi is short for Karthikeyan which is the name for the Indian God of war and wisdom.
