I believe Olver is actually Gaidal Cain reborn. In FoH, Birgitte says "I have not seen him (Gaidal Cain) for some time. I think the Wheel has spun him out again. It always happens so." Also, she states that "time here is not like time in the waking world." Therefore, Olver, who first appears in LoC, most certainly has had enough time to grow into a little boy of nine years. Both Olver and Gaidal Cain are good with horses - Gaidal guides his with his knees in battle with the Seanchan, and Olver says "horses like me." Olver is also "perhaps the ugliest child Mat has ever seen," while Gaidal Cain is "perhaps as ugly a man as Nynaeve had ever seen."Olver's mouth and nose are also described as too large for his face, and Gaidal's nose is heavy and too big, and his mouth a gash. Those two descriptions sound very similar. The only thing Olver needs now is to learn how to use a pair ofswords.
