The fox like people on the other side of the redstoneter'angreal aren't nice. Hell, they hung Mat from the neck. I don't think they would then fill his head up with information of great value, like knowing how to fight battles against superior warriors(Aiel) with with fewers numbers on his side. Mat just been unlucky. The wheel always spuns him out in the role of a warrior who almost made into the super-hero category, but always died right before he made it.
